Dunluce Castle

View from castle window

Amazing cliffs near castle

Castle tower which is known to have a ghost live in it.

What is left of the castle after the looters took what they wanted.

The Causeway which was formed from volcanic activity thousands of years ago.

Hiked to the top of the Causeway!

Today was an amazing day, one of my favorite days so far.  We left Belfast and headed to Derry.  On the way we stopped at Dunluce Castle which was an amazing site.  The castle is located on an island which is hollow and is accessible for boats to dock under the castle.  Many Hollywood video's have been filmed here because it is such an astonishing site.   The castle is standing from the 16th century and the MacDonnells built everything that survives today, and the family remains which means they are still the owners of the castle.
After the Dunluce Castle we headed to Causeway which is a historic site that was created from volcanic activity 60 million years ago.  Enormous pillars were made that looked man made, yet they were naturally made from erosion.  A group of about 6 of us hiked to the top of the Causeway to see the spectacular view.(see pictures above)  This was such a rewarding day and after the hike we ate lunch at a little diner at the bottom of the mountain called The Nook.  After our wonderful we day we headed to the hotel and called it a night.
