January 10th- Belfast

Down Cathedral

Inside Down Patrick Center

Belfast City Hall

Again..
I wish we could have stayed another night at Trim Castle, the hotel and the town were amazing, but we had to keep moving because there is still so much to see!  Today was more of a travel day, so there isn't much to blog about.  On our bus ride to Belfast, we stopped at Down Patrick Center to see St. Patrick's grave.  After, we got back into the bus and headed into Belfast.  Belfast is a town in Northern Ireland that has changed dramatically over the past 40 years.  The division between Protestants and Catholics had left the town under strict regulations due to bombings that were occurring weekly in the downtown area.  You weren't able to drive a car into the town without it being searched, and you would have your bagged searched in any store you wish to shop in.  Once a place where no tourist would dare to visit, Belfast has become a thriving city with many pubs, restaurants, hotels, and other tourist attractions popping up over night.  I was feeling under the weather so I made it an early night that way I was able to explore the town in the morning.
