January 11th- Touring Belfast!

The sign speaks for itself, but yes, this is where the Titanic was constructed and departed for New York.

The outer shell the Titanic was kept in.

Today we took a tour bus ride through Belfast.  Reminded me of the time I was in London and Grandma Dantzig took me on a bus tour all over London.  Needless to say, I had the same reactions this time as I did last time(get me off this bus!!).  I had no idea that the Titanic was constructed in Belfast, and actually set sail from this location.  Currently they are building monuments and tourist attractions hoping to excite people about visiting this up and coming city.  What I found interesting about Belfast is how it accommodates lower income people.  There are many communities that are well developed where the government has completely renovated and remolded apartments and flats which accommodate many families today.  After touring the town we headed back to the hotel to rest before going to a pub down the street.  There was a pirate theme at the pub that night, where they gave out free pirate souvenirs along with free face painting and free captain morgan with coke!  This would be our last night in Belfast and we had to be up bright and early to head to Derry so I didn't make it a long night.
